The concept of lunar satellite communication

Abstract

There is established the necessity of lunar satellite communication system (LSCS) for long-term operation, which will provide global operational communication for mobile vehicles positioned on the Moon surface and at low altitudes nearby with lunar base station positioned on the Moon surface, and through the base station – with ground communication stations. Different types of LSCS orbital groups were studied, as well as principles of organization of intersattellite link and control system using these orbital groups. There were defined the launch vehicles (LV) to launch and inject the satellite in circumlunar orbits, as well as mass of the satellite, basic design and operation requirements.
